An alert was sent to parents earlier today urging them to 'stay away'
A school in Leicester is under lockdown after a student threatened a fellow pupil, Leicestershire Police has confirmed.
Avanti Fields School in Furrow View, Hamilton sent parents into a panic on Wednesday morning after sending an alert warning them to keep away.
Officers have been seen inside the gates liaising with staff and remain at the scene.
The incident was first reported at the Hindu faith school at around 11.20am with the school sending texts and emails to parents and carers.

PAThe alert sparked concern among parents and many arrived at the school's gates for further information.
In its warning, the school said: “Please note that the school is currently on lockdown. All the students are safe, we have safeguarding processes in place. Parents are not allowed to enter the school premises presently or to pick up students for any appointments.”
According to one parent, classrooms in the school were searched "one-by-one" during the lockdown.
In a second email, the school confirmed that some GSCE students arriving in the afternoon were being escorted safely on site even though the school is locked down.
It said: "GCSE History students who are required to come on site must enter the Thurmaston Lane entrance and be escorted to the school site by members of staff."
Avanti Fields School said the nature of the incident was “low risk” but police remain present at the scene.
A police spokeswoman said a male student had made threats of violence inside the school, but no-one had been injured.
She said: “Officers were called to attend a school in Furrow View, Leicester, just after 11.20am this morning (June 7) following a report of threats of violence from a boy inside the premises.
“During the call, it was reported the boy was using threatening and aggressive language and had made threats against a fellow pupil.
"No one has been injured and officers currently remain at the scene to provide reassurance to any parents who may be concerned.”
The spokeswoman added that no further enquiries were being made into the incident.
